This is the fourth spam update of 2026! The first three rolled out in March, June, and August. In 2025 there was only one spam update the entire year (though 2024 had three of them). Still, this is a lot, especially back-to-back months. The August 2026 Spam update only took 3 days to complete despite the same boilerplate "may take up to 2 weeks" announcement, so we'll just have to wait and see how quickly this one goes. It was announced the same day that Google added the multimodal search report to GSC and updated video structured data documentation, so it's possible this spam update is focused more on image and video search. Time will tell.
