Last Tuesday Momentic co-hosted the SERP & Turf Mixer at brightonSEO San Diego with Previsible and SE Ranking, on the roof at Hotel Indigo with Petco Park partially lit up below us.
What happened?
There were 47 companies up there, and you’d expect the people who showed up to spend the night talking about AI and search—especially at an official fringe event of a major SEO conference. Every talk during the day was about AI in one way or another, but the conversations we remember from SERP & Turf were about family, about cities people had moved to and why, about running shoes, and about the friends people realized they had in common.
When the fireworks went off over the ballpark, everyone stopped talking and just watched for a minute.
Why?
It was the night we wanted, and it’s the reason we invest pretty much our entire marketing budget into building community. At the end of the day, Momentic is a customer service business, and most clients and partners started as people we happened to meet at an event someone else paid for, or a recommendation that came through someone we already knew.
We believe that if AI is going to take some of the work off our plates, the best thing we can do with that time is spend more of it like this: with people, instead of finding more reasons to stay at our desks.
If you met one person you didn’t know when you walked in, that’s exactly what we hoped for.
