I get this question every time someone's traveling in for MKE DMC, so here's the list I keep texting people.
Best Normal Dinners
DanDan - The owner (Dan Jacobs) was on the last season of Top Chef and almost won it. Southeast Asian noodles and dumplings.
Hotel Madrid - Spanish tapas, good for groups.
La Merenda - Global tapas. I love tapas.
OddDuck - More tapas. Small plates, seasonal menu.
La Masa - Fusion empanadas. Casual but creative.
Casual
Swinging Door - Old prohibition-era bar that serves food. Mostly bar food but it's a Milwaukee thing.
Nessun Dorma - Neighborhood Italian. Good pasta, nothing fancy.
Don's - Burgers and shakes.
If You're Doing One Nice Dinner
Sanford - 100% the best restaurant in Milwaukee. Go here.
Carnevor - Steakhouse option.
Lupi & Iris or Harbor House - Both great for seafood based on friend reviews (I'm not really a seafood person).
Drinks
If you can get into the blu lounge in the Pfister, that's a great spot for drinks. The Outsider has really good drinks too.
