Brightedge released a data-dense report comparing "tens of thousands" of identical prompts across ChatGPT, AIO, and AI Mode. The goal was to see if the three platforms cited mostly the same brands, or different ones.
This page has a distilled overview of the findings.
Here's the 7-page PDF of the full report.
Most of the time the brand recommendations were different, and the report measures how different and talks about why.
But it's also valuable to understand when the same brands are shown most often, because that's where you'll get more out of your optimization efforts. The answer is commercial intent: 80% alignment on brand mentions when "compare" is in the query, and 62% alignment if "buy" is included.
One actionable takeaway from this is to create comparison content showing how your brand compares to other products/services.
